By integrating the unique properties of monorail and recumbent cycle technologies, Shweeb delivers a personal, efficient, and cost-effective transport solution with applications for urban commuting, recreational and fitness markets.

Concept/ thoughts behind the design:

Travel is a means of getting somewhere in order to do something.  It is a necessity; it’s usually something that we do because we have to, not because we want to. Sometimes we wish we could click our fingers and instantly arrive at our destination

We tend not to like travelling because it’s uncomfortable, there’s not much space, not enough leg room, we spend our time stuck in traffic or on a broken down train... and we are completely powerless to do anything about it.

The design principles of Shweeb aim to put you, the traveller, back in control of your own space, time and power.

Developed using full QWERTY keys by American engineer David brown, the pocket-sized 'qii' flexible transparent keyboard uses touch sensors and a textured surface for typing on virtually any surface. The rollable carbon-based nanomaterial device incorporates waterproof electronic components which repels dirt and liquids. Being wireless, the keyboard can be paired with any smartphone into a pocket computer.

As the demographic evolution in Germany and other countries becomes more dramatic, social systems will collapse and from the ashes an aging society will rise, marked by crime, sickness and poverty. Developed by German designer Philipp stingl, these products designed for the homeless and elderly population presents 'house containers' consisting of disposable trash boxes, drinking water canisters, freight hold and a lockable living space with sewage systems. Essentially, these 'living containers' testify to an active and creative lifestyle for the old age without compromises.

C-Bike

Designed by Reza Rachmat Sumirat, this multifunctional trike is both a chair and a bicycle. At first glance, the C-Bike is just a chair on wheels, but attaches its front-mounted 3rd wheel and you’ve got a fixed gear trike for trips to the park or around the neighbourhood. A stabilizer on the inside of each wheel ensures you won’t roll away when you’re seated.

Ren Fangying has designed a simple and streamlined-looking writing utensil which records your scribbled sentences with integrated photoelectric sensors. Transcribing each line into a sort of image, the device sends your notes to a friend’s Handwriting Chat Pen.

The 'Sofa Bike' is designed by Jacek Holubowicz and Kazimierz Lesnniewski.

I think this looks like a really fun and social way to travel around town in an eco friendly way. Although its not that practical with it being the size it is.
